This ain’t Diddy. It’s Puff Daddy and The Family. Nostalgia is dangerous though. It can either make you smile and awaken warm feelings of good times, or it can creep you out like spending the night in your cramped childhood bedroom and wondering how you ever fit in there.
The trio of Puff, Pharrell, and Hype get it right in the video for “Finna Get Loose,” the first single from his now retitled album No Way Out 2. Given the album’s nod to Puff’s first successful attempt at being a marquee act, it’s only right that he do what he does best: make people dance. Puff and Pharrell dial back the glamour and get a room full of people sweating out their frustrations to the Neptunes sound, not coincidentally, another producer turned superstar soloist.
If “Finna Get Loose” proves anything, it’s that Puff Daddy, as he’s told us hundreds of times over the years, will never stop.
