Rappers often rap about how much money they have, or sometimes they rap in a way that chastises other rappers for rapping about how much money they have. But the fact of the matter is there actually are a few rappers who get the money that they talk about. Forbes has released their annual Hip-Hop Cash Kings list, which measures which rappers made the most money in the past year. Topping the list, once more, is Sean “Diddy” Combs.
Now, it may feel like Diddy isn’t really a prominent figure in the world of hip-hop anymore. This is because he’s not, although he is apparently working on a new album. However, there are other ways for people to make money, and that’s where most of Diddy’s $60 million came from. He’s got a TV channel, a clothing line and, of course, Ciroc Vodka, which is apparently where most of his money came from. Also, he has an alkaline water brand called Aquahydrate, which is ridiculous, but, hey, he’s making money.
You can probably guess the other names topping the list, by and large. Jay Z ($56 million) is in second, Drake ($39.5m) is third, Mr. Beats himself Dr. Dre ($33m) is fourth, and Pharrell ($32m) rounds out the top five. Wiz Khalifa made the list, in part, because of his “weed-themed merch.”
