As the story continues to develop, a key figure in the Diddy-UCLA fight added his voice into the mix as Justin Combs spoke out in support of his dad. Using his Instagram, the younger Combs posted a photo with his famous pops and a short caption thanking God for “having a father that’s always there for me.”
TMZ’s still digging up the dirt via numerous sources trying to piece together what happened. Reportedly, UCLA strength and conditioning coach Sal Alosi called out Justin Combs, a junior defensive back for the team, saying “I don’t care if your dad’s here. I’m going to treat you just like I treat everyone else.” After that, Alosi apparently told the younger Combs to leave and to not return for the rest of the summer. I imagine things escalated from there with father and coach, but exactly who caused the fight still remains up in the air.
For his part, Puffy isn’t speaking out, but his representatives did release a statement to the Associated Press. They claim that Diddy was defending himself, and contend the facts of the case will emerge:
“The various accounts of the event and charges that are being reported are wholly inaccurate,” Nathalie Moar, a rep for Combs Enterprises, said in a statement to The Associated Press. “What we can say now is that any actions taken by Mr. Combs were solely defensive in nature to protect himself and his son…We are confident that once the true facts are revealed, the case will be dismissed.”
It won’t go before the district attorney’s office until next week. UCLA officials did initially report that no one was injured in the altercation, so there’s a chance this whole thing may blow over. Until then, expect Diddy, his son and UCLA’s football program to continue getting a lot of attention.
